Commissioned by Sony, designer John “Wilhelm” Dunn converted a Vaio F into a cool Steampunk machine. Named eCog Mercury, the machine mod is finished in birch plywood trim, with typewriter like retro key caps, and a sprinkling of copper and gauges. It also includes non-functional gauges and steel pipes that serve the purpose of being wires and drawer pulls.
Dunn is now selling the mod for laptops. You need to have a Sony Vaio F series to provide for the mod, and Dunn will make the other changes for $1250.
